Hi my name is Jackson Bailey we're here at Baylor University and we're here at the soccer complex. How often do we verticut and why? Out here at Baylor soccer field we have a grass called Gene One, it's very aggressive in growing laterally. So for us verticutting is very important. It just helps to keep that plant growing laterally instead of just trying to grow vertically and trying to grow really tall. We verticut anywhere between 4 to 5 times a year. Sometimes we go very aggressive and sometimes we just lightly verticut. The vertical mowing is a tool that you can use on athletic fields. Verticutting is just a vertical mow, basically, where you get down into the soil a little bit and pull out that thatch and it just helps clean up your Athletic Field.
